Was It Something I Said?

I’m going to be lazy today and do the reblog thing.  Two things inspired me to do this.  One:  Madame Weebles — thank you, MW.  She reblogged yesterday blaming the heat and her reblog post led to an earlier post, Which diseases are the most glamorous? (Go read it if you haven’t — it’s great and funny)

I can relate because not only am I feeling all verklempt but also I have the vapors and am feeling, well melancholy.  Again, thanks to MW for expertly explaining what all those maladies are.

Two:  Do you ever check your Dashboard and see all the search terms that got people to visit your blog?  I did yesterday and there were these terms:

Peace and Love, french brasserie modern architecture, conversation between two women, generosity, wine shop, gratitude.

I like those and can understand why eventually some may have found The Banter from searching those terms.

Then there was this one:  Cackbadger.

Here’s the definition according to Urban Dictionary:  A twat, a wanker.  A person of low IQ and dubious morals.

REALLY?  I must say I’m deeply wounded (not really, I don’t give a shite, well maybe just a little), because I don’t consider myself a twat or a wanker and I may not be an Einstein, but I’d like to think I got a few things going on upstairs.  As far as “dubious morals,” I think that’s an objective thing, don’t you?

I’ve been called many things in my life, but never a cackbadger.  Say it aloud now, it’s actually kind of fun to say.  I’ll just add it to my list of weird words that I plan to do something with someday.

I think I’ll get my honey to fix me a mint julep later on and go out on the porch and fan myself, swoon a few times and get all misty about the whole thing.  I’m Southern and I got this stuff down to an art, with much panache, drama and flair.

I’m going to raise my glass to all the cackbadgers out there, because after all, we are people too!  (If you want to buy tee-shirts, mugs, magnets and greeting cards proclaiming yourself a cackbadger, you can do that here).

I’m guessing cackbadger will again show up in my search terms.  Have a glorious weekend everyone, press the play button below to get you in the mood and then click below that for my earlier post, seems apropos.

Go Ahead, Insult Me.

  2. Wow. I’ve had some interesting search terms, but never “cackbadger.” Sounds like something my teenage son would say. Only he’d probably change the first vowel to a different one. I’ll say no more…

  3. Thanks B! It’s hot today too, I’m glad you’re going the reblog route, it’s best for conserving energy. 🙂

I don’t think I ever heard the work cackbadger before but I like it.

Now get yourself a few hankies, a grand flouncy dress, a fainting couch and a glass of lemonade. You can’t have proper vapor or melancholy without them.

Posted by Madame Weebles | June 22, 2012, 11:36 am
    • Thanks, MW. I have to drag those hankies and flouncy dress out of my closet. They’re in a box labeled, “Southern Swooning.” I’ve got my couch ready in the outdoor yaaard gazebo and I’ll put my apron on to squeeze some lemons for a cool beverage. I’m going to make hubby dress in short shorts and fan me.

      Happy weekend. ;).

  4. Cackbadger is rather hard to pronounce. This may be the reason this word has not made it into the cache of language we typically associate with a twat, wanker, or person of low IQ. Instead, we say dumbass, idiot, moron, dork, etc. These words just roll off the tongue, whereas Cackbadger makes me have to stop and think before I say it.
Just a thought. Enjoy the mint julep! 🙂

    • uhhh, thanks. Nah, cackbadger rolls off my tongue better, but thanks so much for defining it with other insulting words. This was a sarcastic kind of fun thing, perhaps that doesn’t always translate when one writes. I will, thank you and have a nice weekend! :).

      • Ooops, sorry Brigitte, didn’t mean it the way it must have sounded. Was just having fun with it. Forgive me if I was offensive. That was not my intention. 🙂

      • Big smile — in response to your comment above:

Noooooo, I didn’t take it that way at all. :). See the sarcasm thing, it just doesn’t come across that way sometimes. You didn’t offend me AT ALL. Sorry if my response seemed that way. I know you were having fun with it and I was too. :).

  5. I already got my hubby in short shorts, and the mint lemonade is on its way…Cackbadger has an elegant look to it, and I’m probably more likely to use imbecile. It seems to roll off the tongue more smoothly (maybe through practiced use?). Have a great weekend! 🙂

    Posted by Margarita | June 22, 2012, 12:05 pm
    • You go, Margarita. Gotta keep them in their place. I agree, cackbadger does have an elegant look to it. Imbecile is a bit smoother, but cackbadger has a snappy kind of funkiness to it. :). You have a great weekend as well.

  6. Well, I read “Go Ahead, Insult Me” the first-time around and enjoyed it. I guess it took 3 months for someone to take you up on it? And with a heck of an interesting insult word, I might add! (Careful what you ask for!) 🙂

  7. Haven’t seen that one yet in my searches! The ones that really get me curious are when WordPress can’t identify them and uses “Unknown Search Terms” or “Other Search Terms.” But I want to know what they are!

  8. Cackbadger has kind of a nice ring to it. I’ll have to remember that one. 🙂 Not at all accurate in this case, though.

  9. Cackbadger is already catching on. The REM song is hilarious and the reblog is one of my most fave of yours! Have a good weekend….hope you lose the blues.

    Posted by Maggie O'C | June 22, 2012, 2:50 pm
    • Hey Mags, it is quite catchy I think. Thanks, thought the REM song was quite fitting. ;). It was just a momentary blip of blues, obviously due to the curse of the cackbadger and they’re gone now. ;). You have a great weekend yourself. :).

  10. hahaha. Cackbadger?

  11. Count me in. I’m also a nerdjacker, I’ve recently been told. 1. nerdjacker : A nerd (e.g. musical, computer, or academic nerd) that deviates onto their favorite subject while engaging in conversation with an unsuspecting person, sucking the entire conversation of any discernible interest, joy, or understanding.

    I don’t know why.

  12. Oh, la la. Funny post!! I guess it was the old badger-banter mix ’em up?! I’m now off to check out my own dashboard searches. . .T. (I’ve always loved the word “melancholy,” along with “veranda” and “magnolia.” Where’s a fainting couch when you need one?!)

    Posted by Theadora | June 22, 2012, 4:45 pm
    • Oh, T, surely in Paris, you can find a fainting couch. It’s a must-have for a lady. :). So glad you enjoyed and would love to know what you find in your Dashboard searches. Adieu, friend.

  14. Cackbadger – what a brilliant word. I’ll be using it from now on.

    Posted by WomanBitesDog | June 22, 2012, 7:28 pm
  15. Christ I thought it was just us Yorkshire folk that came up with an incomprehensible language – I have never heard that word, though my imagination already wants to run it to it’s rightful conclusion and visualise an actual badger cacking his wee and sweet little Wind In The Willows, tailor made pantaloons, at the sound of the dogs or weasels coming a ‘badger baiting’ – I’d prefer French Brasserie as one genre search for myself, though not French Brassiers which I think may be something entirely else in the Moulin Rouge lingerie dept. I don’t think you are at all wanky and am frankly outraged that someone has tainted you with cackbadgery.

    Posted by wordswithnannaprawn | June 23, 2012, 1:31 am
    • My, my I love your lively description of a cackbadger. Now I can see the little imp. Yes, the french brasserie was a nice one, but who/where/what did that ONE search term cackbadger come from?? Thanks for the non-wanky compliment — it is most appreciated, dear friend. :).

  16. Brigitte,
Le Clown likes a good challenge. So I googled cackbadger to see if I would find you, personally, sitting on a backlink… I stopped looking after 10 search page results… Until I remembered you are American, and I should see what results would I get if I use google.com instead of google.ca (and yes, it does make a difference)… Fail #2.

I’m not giving up: Cackbadger + Brigitte – I have an obsessive nature. I must find it… Nothing. Cackbadger + Banter? Nada… Come, Le Web Strategist… Work it out, what was the Google algorithm that brought the user to your blog…

Break it apart… Cack/Badger, To no avail… Could it be from an initial “cackbadger” site, which a user would have found a site with a link to your blog? But wouldn’t that make it a referring site and not a keyword search?
I am now soliloquizing, and will come back to you when my mind will stop babbling publicly.
    Le Clown

    Posted by clownonfire | June 23, 2012, 8:05 am
    • Le Clown, thank you for adding your brilliance here. You know I did the same as you…searching, searching and not finding. I think it could be as one astute fellow blogger mentioned…perhaps someone found me from a mixup between banter and badger? It was just one pesty little cackbadger on one specific day. If anyone can solve the cackbadger mystery, it’s you. Please keep me informed if you solve the mystery….. ;).

  17. too funny 🙂 I’m new at this, and it just happens I checked mine an hour ago. “sex with dishwashers” was a search that someone had put in to get to my blog. hilarious!

    Posted by sarafoley | June 24, 2012, 5:40 am
    • Hi Sara and welcome! That’s is too funny. How the heck does these search terms come up? Briefly checked out your blog — it looks great! A fellow Taurus, I see. Obviously, you’re good people. ;). Again, thanks so much for stopping by and commenting and hope you’ll visit again soon.
